Terrafirma Training Syllabus
Here at Terrafirma MMA we teach three base martial arts systems: JBW Shootfighting, Will/Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, commonly known as (BJJ) and Mixed Martail Arts, comonly known as (MMA). Here I will give you a brief look at what these systems are all about. So let's start with JBW Shootfighting...

[Shootfighting]
This is the blend of stand up martial arts, clinch work ,takedowns and BJJ using all that the body can offer for protection and attack. You will be trained to punch, kick, elbow, knee and clinch or check. Once in the clinch you will learn all the controls that you need to control the fight to either finish standing up or take it to the ground. If you have decided to take your fight to the ground then that's were your BJJ training comes in.
To reach a full Shootfighting Black Belt you will need to gain a Blue Belt in BJJ. Shoot fighting is our self defence system. By this we mean that we also teach you common assaults on both men and women, and how to deal with them. Pre fight training involves how to deal with a person without using violence, such as body language and posture, and all of the skills for the real world.
Unlike BJJ and MMA, JBW Shootfighting is not sports based, but you will learn all of the techniques that will help you move into a sports arena such as MMA and BJJ. So bang for your buck, this is the place to start your jurney down the martial arts path.

[Will/Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu]
This is the art of submission. While training BJJ you will learn how to escape a bad position, and control your opponent so that you are able to finish the fight either by choke or joint lock. This may sound brutal at the start, but in training we have very strict rules of conduct, so we make sure that no one ever gets injured while on the mat. If you are in the street, remember that they brought the violence to you, so you are defending youself, your friends or loved ones. Though we use violenece as a last resort, there are just some occasions where we may need to engage hard.
BJJ is also one of the fastest growing combat sports in the world, so we do train and compete in some tournaments throughout the year, though it is not our main aim at Terrafirma to produce competition fighters. Every week we will always help and encourage those whose path leads them that way.

[MMA]
Putting it altogether in our MMA classes you will be taught how to marry your new found skills learnt in Shootfighting and BJJ together, for both the street and the cage. This is where we train with the big picture in mind. We also introduce the art of ground and pound, which is striking your opponent while controlling them on the ground.
Putting all these techniques together effectively will give you the ability and the confidence to protect yourself in the ring or on the street. These three systems come together to form what we call the 'Three Tears'. You may have noticed the circular logo on the image at the top of this website. This logo represents the three systems coming together to create the ultimate warrior.
